Sitting in the mountainous Gangtey Valley, looking out over miles upon miles of rolling, green hillsides, lies the wonderfully serene Gangtey Lodge. The closest airport is Paro, around a 5-hour journey by car, so this is an excellent option for a stay whilst exploring Bhutan.

What can you do there?
The region is on the winter migratory route of the rare Black-necked Crane; learn about local crane conservation projects and hike into the hills to observe them as they take flight. Gangtey Lodge is all about the balance between rustic and indulgent, blending high-energy activity with genuine downtime, and is an ideal base for exploring the deeper side of rural Bhutan.
