Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp

Golden Triangle, near Chiang Rai

Nestled on the hillside, the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp is set in huge grounds on the banks of the Rauk River. Even though you're just an hour out of Chiang Rai, the dense jungle surroundings mean you’d never know it. The views are spectacular - panoramic vistas from your private terrace, looking out over the Golden Triangle's emerald valleys and into neighbouring Laos and Myanmar. The accommodation balances true luxury with a sense of adventure and outdoor living. The finish throughout is distinctly Thai, with huge picture windows, stylish interiors and antique style furniture reflecting the country's heritage, while a raft of modern luxuries are discreetly included to keep you relaxed and comfortable.

Facilities are exceptional given the resort's location: an inviting outdoor curved pool, sumptuous spa and a choice of excellent restaurants including bespoke private dining for romantic moments. And did we mention the elephants? Observe and connect with these gentle giants in their natural environment, and learn how the project upholds the very highest conservation standards  - the real highlight of any visit.

Jungle Bubbles

For the icing on the cake, spend a night in the resort ‘Jungle Bubble’. A completely immersive night under the stars, where you’ll find yourself captivated by the elephants roaming through the grounds around you. Watch from your air-conditioned (and surprisingly spacious) bedroom as they gracefully wander and munch on leaves from the trees below your wooden deck. We can’t think of a better highlight to your stay.

What can you do there?

The ample spa offers treatments, private steam rooms and soaking tubs for total relaxation after a day with the elephants, their calves and the mahouts who care for them. Walking through the jungle with the elephants is a peaceful way to observe the local wildlife without disturbing it, and guests also get to see the elephants play in the region's refreshing rivers and pools. Continue the adventure with a longtail boat trip down the mighty Mekong, calling in at the ancient walled city of Chiang Saen and other villages, or challenge yourself with a scenic trek in the hillside.
