Tenzinling Luxury Villa Tents

Paro

Picture the scene: a tree-covered Bhutanese hillside overlooking Paro, facing a horizon of cloud-enrobed peaks, with the warm lights of Tenzinling’s pavilion-style tents creating a welcoming glow to guide guests to their home-from-home. This place is all about making you feel like you belong among Bhutan’s breathtaking landscapes; crafting spaces where guests can explore the surrounding landscape, fully relax into a slower rhythm and embrace a less frenetic pace.

The overall feel combines rustic materials and simple decoration with a handful of stylish details that build a higher-end atmosphere than your average tented camp. There’s a feeling of indulgent moments, yet each individual element is quite pared back, which we love. There’s no pretence, only genuine, attentive hospitality, idyllic views and open spaces. Unwind with traditional hot stone baths, discover new flavours with Bhutanese cuisine, and head out on wanders into the forest.

Location

In the hills above Paro, just a 25-minute drive from the airport, surrounded by walking and cycling trails.

Why we love it

Under canvas

There’s something rather beautiful about the Tenzinling’s take on tented villas that elevates the whole experience. Sleeping under swathes of watertight white canvas, with sunlight streaming in through floor-to-ceiling windows whenever you wish (when you don’t, simply pull the curtains for complete privacy) feels refreshing and restorative. Combining cosy furnishings and homely interiors reminiscent of a homestay or guesthouse, with those unbeatable views really is the best of both worlds.

Location, location, location…

What can we say? The location really couldn’t be better, in our opinion. The sheltered hillside spot is ideal for enhancing the sense of tranquillity, and the lawn space that surrounds the pavilions offers somewhere to sit and take a moment. Paro’s rolling horizons feel untamed and pristine, exemplifying the prioritising of the natural environment for which Bhutan us so well known. Additionally, being just a short hop from the airport means that you can go from airside rush to hillside peace in under half an hour.

What can you do there?

Wake to warm sunlight filtering gently through canvas curtains and enjoy the first cuppa of the day watching the sun rise higher over Paro’s hills. Fill up on a hearty breakfast before heading out into the surrounding countryside on guided hikes or bike rides before returning to the resort to refresh with traditional hot stone baths or unwind with a massage treatment. Relax in your spacious pavilion-style tent, or on the terrace, gazing at the views beyond, and finish the day with traditional dining and a stroll around the lamp-lit garden.

Sustainable Future

In line with Bhutan’s nationwide focus on environmental conservation, the Tenzinling is throwing itself wholeheartedly behind its continuing sustainability journey via the country’s green initiatives.
