Plataran Resorts

Flores, Bromo, Borobudur

Plataran’s resorts in Indonesia offer the perfect blend of traditional design and contemporary style - you instantly know you’re staying somewhere a bit special. Private pools and terraces lead directly into lush gardens, wild hillsides or straight onto soft sand, connecting you to your surroundings and tempting you out of your cosy quarters in search of adventure. Each resort has its own distinctive feel, but they all combine secluded, private spaces where you can rest and refresh with activities to engage you with the country’s nature, history and culture.

The rooms and villas are gloriously spacious, there’s plenty of warm wood and white linen to make everything feel classic but cosy, and sensitively placed trellis, walls and greenery to keep pools and terraces completely private. These are spaces where you can press pause for a while, to regroup and reminisce on your city wanders before heading out to explore the best of Indonesia's wild side.

Location

With sites at Labuan Bajo on Flores, on a steep Bromo hillside, and within sight of the awesome Borobudur Temple, Plataran’s Indonesia resorts are all in locations that make the most of their stunning surroundings.

Why we love it

Discover what to expect from staying at Plataran Resorts

Plataran Bromo

Within the misty landscape of East Java, in sight of the volcanic slopes of Mount Bromo, this resort has the classic Plataran combination of cool, classic luxury and a great location - a welcome break between exploring the region’s hills and temples. There’s a rustic, alpine lodge feel to the place, which includes wraparound terraces and bunk-style beds in the family suites. Dine on a range of Indonesian specialities and comfort food from across Asia in the chalet restaurant with views over the hills, and combine a relaxed coffee with Indonesian arts and crafts at the hilltop cultural centre.

Plataran Borobudur

Set on a hillside with fantastic views overlooking Borobudur and the valley beyond, the Plataran is hands-down one of the most luxurious resorts in the area. Designed in traditional Javan style, the villas and cabanas are clustered on the wooded slopes to the west of the famous temple, with views onto the site itself and beyond into the mountains. Each villa has a private verandah and garden, with generous private pools appearing further up the hillside. On that note, those slopes are worth a little consideration - the breakfast room, main pool and bar sit at the top of the estate, with lots of steps up from the bottom, so those with limited mobility may want to request accommodation nearer the top.

Plataran Komodo

Right by the sea at Labuan Bajo, the Plataran Resort offers stylish villa accommodation set in green beachside gardens. The villas are built from carved wood, with ornate Indonesian-style terracotta roofs, and private terraces which offer views of the garden or out across the sea to Komodo. Dine on freshly caught seafood, Indonesian specialities and international favourites at the beachfront restaurant, and head to the beachside pool for a cooling dip, and take to the sea for snorkelling and canoeing. Of course, being Plataran, there’s always the temptation to head out on one of their flagship private cruises too…

Plataran Komodo

Perfect for Families

The Plataran resorts have plenty for families, and the spacious accommodation lays the groundwork for a flexible and laid-back break together. Relaxed family time is all about choice: the option of relaxing around your own pool or heading out exploring, a variety of easy eating options onsite, and activities to engage everyone - the family room bunk beds at Plataran Bromo even create an enticing treehouse vibe!
