A relatively new player on the scene, the magnificent Joali claims to be the first and only art-immersive resort in the Maldives. The concept is simple but genius: a resort where the immense natural beauty is emphasised through interactive and experiential artistic pieces. It's a novel way to enhance the guest experience, whilst also helping to support local artisans.
However, this certainly isn’t just a resort for aesthetes, and the artistic surroundings simply add an extra layer of exclusivity. The villas are some of the most impressive around, with soaring ceilings, elegant furnishings and rose gold accents that make them feel almost palatial. Even more impressive are the large private gardens and terraces with infinity pools, perfect for cooling off during the day or swimming under the stars.
Location
The quickest way to Joali is to take a seaplane north from Male International Airport. A flight of around 40 minutes transports you to Muravandhoo Island in the Raa Atoll - a natural work of art in itself.

Art in paradise

Whatever your previous artistic leanings, the island’s Art Studio & Gallery plays host to guest artists who create interactive art projects to help you indulge your creative side.
What can you do there?
Once you’ve explored the island and its artwork, all the other attractions of the Maldives are ready for you to dive straight in. The underwater world is right on your doorstep, unique signature treatments await at the spa, and you can join a luxury ‘learn to cook’ experience at Her Kitchen. If you’ve ever fancied yourself as a Masterchef contestant, this is a great opportunity to cook scrumptious local food in a fully equipped restaurant kitchen, but with the chef on hand to make sure it all runs smoothly. Younger visitors are also well taken care of at Murama’s Kids Club, which aims to make each day a new and exciting adventure.
